Top FAQs

Q: What is the difference between the JIVE and the METRO?
A:
The main difference between the JIVE and the METRO is that the JIVE is modular and can adapt into a tandem configuration to accommodate two children, while the METRO is a single pram or pushchair. Other differences include weight, fold and shopping basket size.

Q: Do you sell a double or tandem pram/pushchair?
A: The JIVE's thoughtful engineering and design allows you to adapt the pram/pushchair to accommodate two children, so the pram grows as your family grows, all while maintaining the slim and light profile of a single pram/pushchair.

We sell the JIVE as a tandem (includes stroller, carrycot and second seat), single (includes stroller and carrycot) and also a JIVE Second Seat Conversion Kit, so you can upgrade your single JIVE pushchair to accommodate two seated children. These are all available on our Accessories page.

The Redsbaby METRO cannot accommodate a second toddler seat. This is due to the way the chassis is designed.

Q: Do you have capsule adaptors available for your prams and strollers to enable a travel system?
A: Yes, we sell two types of capsule adaptors. The first is for Maxi-Cosi (Mico, Mico AP and Citi from 2013) as well as Joie i-Gemm and Nuna Pipa capsules. The second type of adapter is compatible with Britax (models Unity Neos and Unity Isofix from 2013). The Britax adaptors are the same adaptors that you receive with your Redsbaby carrycot. Adaptors are available in the METRO/JIVE range of accessories.

Q: Up to what age will my child fit into your products?
A: Weight is the basis for determining whether our products are suitable for your child, rather than your child’s age as weight varies from child to child.

Q: What are the weights and dimensions of your products?

A: Full details of the product weights and dimensions can be found by clicking on the links below:

Q: Are your prams and strollers suitable to use for newborns (from birth)?
A: Yes, the Redsbaby JIVE and METRO are available with carrycots.

Q: When should I transition my child from the carrycot to the seat in my JIVE or METRO

A: We recommend you transition your child from the carrycot to the seat when they reach the weight limit of 9kg (20 lbs), are 6 months of age, or when your child can sit up unaided (whichever occurs first). If you feel that your child needs to transition to the seat before either of these three milestones have occurred, you can do so using the seat in the flat position.

Q: Are the materials on your prams/pushchairs and strollers washable?
A: Yes, most fabric components of our prams, pushchairs and strollers are washable. Every fabric item on the pram, pushchair and stroller has an individual care label which provides care instructions for that piece. Please follow these care labels carefully.

A: We are always working behind the scenes to innovate and find new ways to meet the ongoing needs of our customers. Like most brands, we don’t disclose information about upcoming product developments and product launches prior to the information being made available to all customers. We are unable to provide information on whether we have new products coming, what they will be, or when they will be made available. As a general rule, when we release new products, there is a 12-week lead time from ordering to expected dispatch.

Q: What if I’m not happy with the product when it is delivered?
A: We’re so confident in our beautiful products that we offer a 30 day “time to reflect” period. During this period, we invite you to use our products, and if you’re not entirely satisfied, you can return them back to us and we’ll refund the purchase price. Read more.

Q: Up to what age will my child fit into your products?
A: Weight is the basis for determining whether our products are suitable for your child, rather than your child’s age, as weight varies from child to child.

The second type of adapter is compatible with Britax (Unity Neos and Unity Isofix from 2013). The Britax adaptors are the same adaptors that you receive with your Redsbaby carrycot. Adaptors are available in the METRO/JIVE range of accessories.

Q: Can I use the JIVE/METRO carrycot in my car?
A: No. The bassinet is not designed for use in your car. There is strict national legislation surrounding child car restraints. All children under seven years of age must be secured in a child restraint or booster seat when travelling in a vehicle. For more information on United Kingdom car restraint laws, we encourage you to visit the Roads Authority in your state or territory.

Q: Are the carrycot and seat unit separate items?
A: Yes. The JIVE/METRO bassinet is separate to the seat unit. The carrycot and seat come on their own independent frames, with their own canopies, fabrics and materials.

Q: When should I transition my child from the carrycot to the seat in my JIVE or METRO?
A: We recommend you transition your child from the carrycot to the seat when they reach the weight limit of 9kg, are 6 months of age, or when your child can sit up unaided (whichever occurs first). If you feel that your child needs to transition to the seat before either of these three milestones have occurred, you can do so using the seat in the flat position.

Q: Can I fold the JIVE or METRO with the seat or carrycot attached?
A: Yes. Both the JIVE and METRO can be folded with their seats attached; however, carrycots must be removed prior to folding. The seats must be removed to fold when the JIVE in its tandem configuration due to the necessity for adaptors. When folding your JIVE or METRO with the seat attached, ensure that it is in the forward-facing position in the fully upright position.

Q: The foot rest is in the upward position when I unfold the stroller with the set on, is this normal?
A: Yes, the foot rest will remain in the upward position when the stroller has been folded with the seat on and then unfolded. This design allows the seat to remain on the chassis when you fold it, as the foot rest folds up flat and tucks into the seat for a very compact fold with the seat attached. If you prefer to have the foot rest remain in the downward position, then simply remove the seat prior to folding.

Q: What are the accessories available for my JIVE or METRO?
A: We have a fantastic range of accessories available to enhance your Redsbaby pram or pushchair. Visit Accessories to explore the full range.

Q: What is the head barrier on the seat?
A: The head barrier serves an important safety function by preventing your child sliding out of the top of the stroller and becoming entrapped in the gap between the handle bar and seat. This is a safety feature for all strollers and prams that have a reclining seat to an angle greater than 150 degrees (i.e. the flat position). The head barrier must be permanently secured to the stroller, or if removable, require a tool to do so.

The JIVE and METRO both come with head barriers, which are attached to their respective seat units with a zipper that does not have a pull tab. The pull tab has been removed from the zipper to ensure that a child cannot remove the head barrier. We recommend that you leave the head barrier attached at all times; however, if you need to remove it when your child's head approaches the top of the seat, then simply insert a paperclip, bobby pin or safety pin into the zipper head to unzip. Alternatively, the JIVE and METRO's head barrier has also been designed to fold flat against the seat unit, again ensuring that it doesn't interfere with the height limit of your seat.

Q: How many points does your pram/pushchair seat harnesses have?
A: Redsbaby prams/pushchairs feature the same 5-point safety harness, meaning that the two shoulder straps, two waist straps and crotch strap all connect at a single centre buckle. Most 5-point safety harness buckles keep the waist straps connected to the shoulder straps once the centre buckle is released. As we are serious about safety, we have used a specially designed buckle that releases all five straps immediately with a one-button release. This ensures the waist straps are disconnected from the shoulder straps every time the buckle is released, preventing any hazardous loops from forming which can create a strangulation risk. This specially designed buckle also makes removing your child from the seat easy, without any arms getting caught in the harness.

Q: What is the tether strap on my handlebar? Do I need to use it?

A: The tether strap is an important safety feature on your pram/pushchair. We recommend that you secure the tether strap to your wrist at all times while using your Redsbaby pram/pushchair to prevent it from rolling away.

Q: What are the wheels made of on the 2018 Collection prams?
A: Redsbaby 2018 Collection feature PU or ER wheels, depending on the model;

What is ER?
Redsbaby 2018 ER wheels are made with an engineered composite of rubber and plastic. They are more durable and higher performance than our previous models’ puncture-proof wheels which were EVA (a solid plastic). The addition of rubber to the wheel composition provides greater shock absorbency for vibrations and bumps, and also provides a wheel that will last longer. 100% of the wheel is the ER composite material.

What is PU?
Redsbaby 2018 PU wheels have a 100% outer rubber tread, with the inner of the wheel being filled with a polyurethane foam. Together, the 100% rubber outer tread and the foam fill results in a puncture-proof solution that is the closest in performance to an air wheel. Maintaining the rubber tread creates superior surface grip.

Additional design changes:
We have engineered a narrow ridge on the widest point of the front and rear wheels which minimises the surface area of the wheel that has contact with the ground. This also minimises bumps and vibrations, while delivering a more durable and hard-wearing wheel.

Positioning of air vs. PU/ER
Air wheels provide an excellent solution for customers that desire an exceptionally smooth ride from their pram. However, this comes with maintenance (pumping and inner-tube replacement over time). While air tyres are an excellent solution, based on feedback from our customers that requested a puncture-proof, low maintenance solution, we have engineered our new ER/PU wheels to provide the highest performance for the products they have been specifically designed for (Metro² – extremely lightweight, JIVE² – to be able to carry two children, while still being as lightweight as possible).

Care and Maintenance

Q: How do I clean my Redsbaby Pram/Pushchair?
A: To clean the plastic and metal parts of your Redsbaby pram, sponge clean with warm water and a mild detergent and then air dry. Do not use any abrasive or corrosive cleaning products.

Q: Is there any regular maintenance that I need to undertake for my pram/pushchair?
A: Yes. We recommend that you regularly (once every 8-12 weeks) spray moving parts such as the wheels and folding mechanism with a silicone lubricant which will keep your Redsbaby pram/pushchair operating at an optimum level. Only use sparingly, as overuse can encourage accumulation of dirt in moving parts. DO NOT use any other lubricant other than those specifically marked as a 'Silicone Lubricant' (for example, DO NOT use WD40) as doing so can deteriorate the plastic parts of your pram and interfere with its structural integrity.

Q: My folding mechanism is stiff and hard to operate. How do I fix this?
A: We recommend you lift the release mechanism and spray a silicone lubricant into the hole on the side of the frame (you can see the hole when you pull the release mechanism towards you). Pull the release mechanism forwards and backwards until it is fully lubricated. We recommend you do this on a regular basis to ensure the release mechanism operates at an optimum level.
